Outdoor lovers in Lynchburg may spend more hours than normal sitting indoors this week while watching the 2012 Summer Olympics.
The Olympics offer some of the finest athletes in the world competing on a global stage in a quest to take home the gold.
No matter what your sport, the Summer Olympics offers an opportunity to watch great athletes competing in 35 sports, including some you may never have watched.
Many of the events will be televised at all hours of the day and night, causing many sports fans to lose a lot of sleep.
The opening ceremony for the Olympics was held on Friday, July 27 and events will continue through August 12.

As a child, my family always watched the Olympics and diving was always one of my favorite sports. As a parent, I’ve watched more soccer than any other sport since that was the sport my son played for the most years.
