On July 14th & 15th, 2012, Bodybuilding.com brought it’s annual FitExpo to San Jose for the first time. The even was hosted at the San Jose McEnery Convention Center. It was also sponsored by Subway. Vendors and promoters started arriving earlier in the week, setting up on Friday. Upon opening it was quite a scene of many different areas of fitness. Early Saturday morning there were already lines for registration for the jiu-jitsu events, the NPC Bodybuilding, Fitness, Figure, Bikini and Physique championships athlete check-ins. Friends and family were there to show support and escort their athletes as far as they could.

This was the first FitExpo in San Jose, held in conjunction with the 32nd Annual 2012 NPC San Jose Championships. On Saturday the NPC competition started with athlete check-in at 8:30 am. Show started just after 10am and pre-judging went until the early afternoon. Athletes arrived back a few hours later for Finals which went late into the night. Many of the competitors were getting this show in as they were preparing for the NPC USA National competition on July 27-28, 2012 in Las Vegas. Some went on to obtain their Pro Cards!
Sunday the World Combat Series(WCS) was held with 12 MMA fights. The three Title fights were between:
- Orange County’s Trevor “T” Grey( Ussd Mma San Clemente) vs. Bay Area’s JJ Okanovich(Lightweight Champion from Dark Horse / Nor Cal Fight Factory)
- San Diego’s Justin Jones(Light Heavyweight Champion from Victory MMA) vs. Bay Area’s Brandon Hester(Tribull Mixed Martial Arts)
- #4 ranked Joe “9 lives” Neal(Featherweight Champion from Crispim BJJ) vs. #1 ranked Richard Parra(The Pit S.L.O.)

On Sunday was also held the IronMind Grip Challenge. Also on Friday night and Sunday were Gracie Worlds Jiu Jitsu seminars by Henry Akins and Ryron Gracie.
This was also a great event for some of the local vendors to show what they can do. Local fitness shops and vendors such as CaliMuscle(Campbell), Lana’s Egg Whites(Danville), Alpha Strong(Chico), Advocare(San Jose) had booths at the events and some stayed and participated, supporting their local athletes.
