Film buffs, writers, camera persons, directors, casting agents and fashion designer wannabees all watch some part of the annual PrimeTime Emmy Awards. This marks the 64th year of star studded glamour to oo and aw over. But for the last 53 years Chicago has hosted its own local Emmy Awards to celebrate the accomplishments of the local Arts, Science and Television professionals.
The Chicago Midwest National Academy of Televisions, Arts and Sciences will hold its Emmy Awards mega celebration on November 18, 2012, a few weeks after the more commonly known Primetime Emmy Awards, September 23, 2012. Did you know its in its 64th year.
The backstage interviews have become more of a hoopla than the presentations before the audience of hundreds of “Just Happy to be Nominated”. Backstage you get to hear the personal interviews and things the winners do not have time to say on stage. So backstage is where you should be on September 23, 2012. No ticket necessary. Let cyberspace usher you into the lair.
But if waiting is passe, then catch a flight to Hollywood and check out the 6th Annual PrimeCuts, celebrating the American Cinematheque at the Egyptian Theatre, 6712 Hollywood Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90028, September 9, 2012, 1pm -3pm pacific time. This is a joint event for the American Cinema of Editors, A.C.E., and the Editor’s Guild. It lets the Emmy nominated editors discuss how they excel in their area of profession.
The panel of awesome people to query, drum role please…. Kelly Dixon “Breaking Bad”, Steven A. Rasch, A.C.E. “Curb your Enthusiasm & Modern Family”, Peter Jon Chakos “The Big Bang Theory”, Kabir Akhtar “84th Annual Academy Awards”, Fabienne Bouville “America Horror Story”, Josh Earl, A.C.E. “Deadliest Catch”, David Tedeschi ” George Harrison” Living in the Material World”. The panel moderator is Shawn Ryan, who executive produced “Last Resort, The Shield, Chicago Code, Terriers, The Unit and Lie to Me” of which Shawn created “The Shield and Chicago Code”, co-creating “Last Resort”.
The great thing is the 6th Annual PrimeCuts event is open to the public, no swanky reservations. Best duds probably not required but maybe a shower, shave, clean clothes and pull through once or twice with the comb.
The Creative Arts Emmy Award show is on September 15, 2012 at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles California. Live taping to air on the ReelzChannel on September 22, 2012 one day before the REALLY BIG, REALLY BIG Show, “The 64th Annual PrimeTime Emmy Awards”. Did you know its in its 64th year.
Chicago has a lot to offer, like 10 year old Pianist and Composer Emily Bear, the Elgin, Illinois Children’s Choir or Arielle Daylan, an accomplished singer, all are performing on September 15, 2012 at the Hemmens in Elgin, Illinois, skipping the Los Angeles thing is still possible. Dreaming of Los Angeles, the city of Angels and sunny winter days is alright. Los Angeles with their bright lights, fancy clothes and movies stars like bees to honey; but know that Chicagoland is everyone’s kind of town for the arts, cinema, talent and news anchors that shed real tears when they receive an award from their peers.
The 54th Annual Chicago Emmy Wards is not to be missed. Its just after the 2012 “Chicago”Obama Presidential Election and a month after the “REALLY BIG, REALLY BIG Show”. The Chicago Emmy Awards Ceremonial event, hosted by Richard Roeper, is at the Alhambra Palace, 1240 West Randolph, Chicago, IL. Hopefully, President Obama can take the republican’s suggestion and come back to the internationally known city of Chicago for a quick stop over for this event on Air force one.
