Millions of people from around the world tune in to see the athletic competitions at the 2012 London Olympics, but many do so specifically to catch a glimpse of their favorite royal couple, Prince William and Kate Middleton. On July 30, the two British royals were in the spotlight when they attended a cross-country equestrian event at Greenwich Park on day three of the Summer Games. The photos of William and Kate speak volumes about their royal relationship.
Prince William wed Kate Middleton on April 29, 2011 during a huge TV event that was televised worldwide. Their Royal Wedding, which took place at Westminster Abbey in London, was attended by 1,900 guests, but watched by more than 26 million TV viewers. It was a grand affair and the most memorable royal wedding since Prince Charles wed Diana Spencer in 1981.
During today’s equestrian Olympic event, Lord Coe and Camilla Parker Bowles accompanied the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge. Sporting a Great Britain team shirt paired with a navy blazer, Kate Middleton looked casually regal, as did Prince William in a matching Team GB navy button-down shirt. Interestingly enough, Prince William and Prince Harry’s cousin, Zara Phillips was one of the competitors at today’s equestrian event.
Prince William and Kate Middleton will be very busy in the days ahead. They are also set to attend swimming, soccer, hockey, gymnastics, tennis and diving events, plus the men’s 100 final. Fans are most certain to catch them quite a few times on TV.
