A moment for worship: Sitting at his feet; I need you more

Is God irresistible to you? Do you find yourself busily serving God and still feeling you need God more? This is what God wants from us. He wants us to be hungry for him. If you long for this kind of relationship with God but find yourself so busy serving and doing and still feeling empty, you can take comfort and instruction from what Jesus had to say to Martha as he visited with her and her sister Mary.

Now Martha had been busying herself with much serving, all the while Mary her sister sat at Jesus’ feet listening to his word (Luke10:38-39). ‘But Martha was cumbered about much serving, and came to him, and said, Lord, dost thou not care that my sister hath left me to serve alone? Bid her therefore that she help me. And Jesus answered and said unto her, Martha, Martha, thou art careful and troubled about many things: But one thing is needful: and Mary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her.’ Luke 10:40-42.

God is not telling Martha that she shouldn’t work or serve, but he is pointing out that there is a more important thing to choose and Mary has chosen it. Mary understood that she needed Jesus. Hearing God’s word was something that wouldn’t be taken away from her, but would stick with her. She needed to learn from him, to sit and soak up his word.

If you will seek God you will find him. If you seek to know him on a personal level, he will begin to be heard; you will hear him. Ask God how to understand him. Ask him how he wants to be worshiped. Ask him what he would have you do at any given moment throughout your day. ‘…Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all they heart, and with all they soul, and with all they mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself.’ Matthew 23:37b-39.

Let God change your desires as you listen to ‘I need you more’ by Kim Walker on the accompanying video. Close your eyes, lift your hands and let God move in your soul as you give him your worship in this moment. Be blessed.
