“We are all creatures of one family.” (St. Francis of Assisi)
All of life has the quality with properties of the one life that is divine. From the desert to the sea -every plant, animal, insect and stone is a part of the great tapestry of life. Each individual part is interconnected, supported and needs each other in innumerable ways; simply to maintain and sustain this thing called life.
And so It is not unusual, in the month of October, to set aside a special time to honor and bless, some call our kinsmen, the species of animal, dog, cat and other…another of “God’s children” Giving ourselves to others allows others to give to you. It’s the basic laws of circulation. We are all a part of the great and grand cycle of life and to honor and bless the smallest of us, blesses all of us. This is Absolute and we can count on it.
So whether we’re attending a formal blessing or simply saying a prayer of gratitude when interacting with your dog, cat and other, we’re all God’s children and not excluded from love, compassion, good and plenty.
