Every now and then, a movie theater will offer a double feature of the best movies currently available. Here in South Bend, the only realistic way to see a double feature is if we drive down to Plymouth’s Triway Drive-In Theater. Local theaters have shown double features around the area, but they are far and few between. On July 19th, however, AMC Showplace 16 in South Bend, IN will show all three of Christopher Nolan’s Batman series back to back.
That’s right, a triple feature. If a double feature is rare, one must wonder what a triple feature is in comparison. Batman Begins will start at 6:00 PM, followed by The Dark Knight, which ultimately leads up to The Dark Knight Rises for it’s midnight premiere. Tickets are currently on sale listed at $25 per ticket.
You have to think, if it is three films that total up to $25, that means each ticket is about the price for any new movie after 6:00 PM. Batman Begins and The Dark Knight have been out for years. Some may think because these movies have already been out for years, and most have already seen them, it should not be the full price. Think about it this way, are you really paying for the movie, or are you paying for the experience?
A midnight experience alone is without a doubt incredibly memorable, but I’m willing to bet a triple feature is not so readily found in theaters. If anything can maximize an experience, it is a triple feature such as this.
If you are a fan of Christopher Nolan’s Batman series, and are willing to pay the $25 for a ticket to this nearly nine-hour extravaganza, you definitely should consider it. Remember, it’s not only the movies you are purchasing, but the collected experience.
The Dark Knight releases on July 20th, 2012 at AMC Showplace 16.
