More details about Asylum were just released in Entertainment Weekly‘s August 29 cover story. The asylum, called Briarcliff Manor, is run by sadistic nun Sister Jude (Jessica Lange) with Sister Eunice (Lily Rabe) second in command. Joseph Fiennes plays Jude’s boss, Monsignor Timothy O’Hara. Dr. Arden (James Cromwell), a possible former Nazi, uses patients for experiments, resulting in the Raspers, “mutated former patients who lurk in the woods outside the institution” (according to TVFanatic‘s article published today).
TV Guide’s article published today reveals that Zachary Quinto will play Dr. Thredson, “whose progressive ways clash with Jude’s philosophy.” Evan Peters won’t be on staff but will play patient Kit, who believes aliens abducted his wife, and Chloe Sevigny plays a nymphomaniac patient named Shelley. Sarah Paulson portrays a lesbian journalist and inmate named Lana (according to TVFanatic). The show will also include a serial killer called Bloody Face, who wears “a mask made out of his victims skin along with black necktie and opera length gloves” (according to EW).
Since the first seven teaser trailers, three more have been released, White Rave, Taste and Bandages. The DVD of Season 1 releases on September 25.
