The Florida Hotel and Conference Center in Orlando had more than it’s share of poise and grace during the busy weekend of August 10th.
The 5th Annual America’s Perfect Pageant got the ballroom rolling early Friday morning with their first event for the competition, the ‘Perfect Junior Teen Fashion Walk’ held at 9 am in the main ballroom. The swimsuit and evening wear fashion shows followed on Saturday, and Sunday wrapped up with the final competition and crowning of the final winners.
Congratulations to the 5 new National Queens:
- America’s Perfect Preteen: Ava Cota from Linden, Michigan
- America’s Perfect Junior Teen: Shala Mohammadi from Orlando, FL
- America’s Perfect Teen: Chinyere Adogu from Brooklyn, NY
- America’s Perfect Miss: Brittany Shepherd from Winston-Salem, NC
- America’s Perfect Woman: Laura Pucker from Delray Beach, FL”
This exiting event, also known as ‘World’s Perfect Pageant’ is different from other pageants. Though it holds the classic appeal of traditional pageantry, it progresses towards the contemporary aspects of fashion and the high energy of fashion modeling combined.
Alabama’s Taylor Young, who made made the top 15 and placed 7th in the main event, won Americas Perfect Jr-Teen Supermodel and shared the excitement with friends and her devoted mom, Melanie. Melanie supports her daughter all the way and feels Americas Perfect Pageant is a great stepping-stone and can open doors for the determined girl who wants to succeed, especially in a modeling career.
“Taylor will continue with the pageant world and modeling for major designers and walking the runway. Her dreams are to become Americas Next Top Model and to get her wings for Victoria Secret. This pageant is the ‘fashionista’ of the pageant world. It gives the girls a chance to show their creative side.”
Many beautiful mothers beamed with their beautiful offspring through the weekend. Miss Winter Park, contestant Angel Custodio, strolled the Florida mall with her mom later that evening wearing her crown.
All of the girls seemed to have winning attitudes and look forward to returning to next year’s event, which will be held August 5-11, 2013 at the same location.
In addition to the pageant, the hotel and surrounding area stayed busy accommodating another group, The Jehovah’s Witness Watchtower convention held at Silver Spurs arena. The convention spreads out over several weekends starting in August and brings thousands of people from several parts of Florida.
It was a beautiful weekend all around.
