On July 28, 2012 Napa Valley will celebrate an afternoon of sipping great Napa Valley wines, delectable bites, and shopping…yes shopping for great shoes! This summer, Wine, Women & Shoes will host a one-of-kind and unforgettable event in Napa Valley to help raise much needed funds and awareness fro the Napa Emergency Women’s Services, Napa County’s domestic violence and sexual assault prevention agency.
WWS is an organization brainchild by Elaine Honig. While chatting with a girlfriend about the growing popularity of wine and food pairing events, they jokingly said “wine and shoe pairings would be a lot more fun!” And they were right. WWS events are now in 27 cities across the country, with over 15,000 attendees per year, and to date has raised $10 Million for women and children’s charities.
Today the team has expanded to include Kimberly Miller, Lu Ann Chillemi, Sarah Obialero, Celia Carey, Robin Kratz, and Suzanne Rathbone. With a combined 60 years of wine industry, marketing and event planning experience, they’re expanding the WWS program into more cities, working with non-profit and corporate clients to educate about wine, introduce high-fashion shoes, and inspire women everywhere to think out of the box…the shoebox that is!
On July 28 Charles Krug Winery, in St. Helena, will open its doors to host the event to benefit NEWS, an organization that provides a nurturing refuge for women and children suffering from domestic violence and/or sexual assault, and is a catalyst for change through prevention, intervention, and advocacy. Established in 1981, NEWS has proudly provided these critical services 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to an average of 1,200 women and children each year. One hundred percent of ticket and auction proceeds, and 20% of vendor sales from this event will go directly to NEWS.
