Seems like every game these days worth it’s salt has a season pass feature. From “Gears of War 3” to “Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3”, season passes deliver a lot of content for a reasonable price. The upcoming “Assassin’s Creed 3” is set to get it’s own season pass from Ubisoft.
A GameStop employee let it leak that stores have been getting letters from Ubisoft that both thank them for getting so many pre-orders of “Assassin’s Creed 3” and announced that a “season pass concept” is in the works.
“We are currently in the process of creating a complementary development team that will begin working on post-launch episodic content to continue the Game of the Year experience that Assassin’s Creed 3 will undoubtedly deliver,” reads the letter.
Starting with “Assassin’s Creed 2”, all of the games have had post launch downloadable content. A season’s pass for the next installment makes perfect sense. Ubisoft would be able to lock up an extra forty or fifty bucks to deliver weekly or monthly content for the game. Ubisoft did offer something like a season pass for the last AC game, just on the PC. So the smart money is them trying it on the consoles next.
Keep in mind, no official word has been giving by Ubisoft, and no DLC has been announced yet, but with this leak it’s safe to say the news is on it’s way. It’s just a matter fo time now.
“Assassin’s Creed 3” launches for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on October 30th, 2012.
