“Bachelor Pad” returned tonight, and changed up the game a little bit. Instead of ten individuals, there are now five couples competing from here on out.
The challenge this week is a spelling bee, complete with a school bus for transportation and kid judges. Blakeley is worried because she and Tony can’t spell well, and are eliminated first. One by one, the other couples get eliminated until it’s down to the final two: Chris & Sarah and Ed & Jaclyn. They go into a sudden death and both couples misspell a few words before Chris and Sarah finally win with “serendipity.” They are awarded an overnight date and two roses to save them from elimination this week. Ed and Jaclyn also get an overnight date but no roses.
Chris and Sarah’s date starts immediately after the spelling bee, and they take a private jet to the Santa Margarita Ranch where they board a steam train that takes them to a lake where they swim and frolic before eating dinner in a barn and spending the night there. Chris claims to still not be completely over Emily but he’s glad Sarah’s around to help.
Ed and Jaclyn’s date is the very next day, and they also board a jet to take them to this exclusive island off the coast of California. They spend the day there near the water and talking about whether they are or aren’t a couple. Ed confesses he has a girl back home that he’s into, and while he loves having Jaclyn as his partner (and sleeping with her and spending time with her) he’s conflicted because of Miss Chicago Girl. Jaclyn feels betrayed but eventually gives into having a good time with Ed, and they head upstairs at a luxury hotel after dinner to spend the night.
What they didn’t show until after Ed and Jaclyn’s date is that they got two roses, but not for themselves. The next day, they went back to the house and read the card that came with it, and it said, “Choose a couple who is not yourselves to give this rose to.” Jaclyn and Ed talk and listen to pleading from all parties (except for Chris and Sarah who are safe) and end up giving the roses to Tony and Blakeley.
When it comes rose ceremony time, the two narrowed choices are either Kalon and Lindzi or Nick and Rachel. The couples like Kalon and Lindzi, but Rachel has been in the main alliance the whole time she was with Michael before he was kicked off, so they decide to send home Kalon and Lindzi who leave in separate limos, but don’t get out of the driveway before Kalon abandons his and slides in with Lindzi where they profess their love to each other and America.
Next week, the final four couples take on a whole different challenge. “Bachelor Pad” returns Monday at 8/7c on ABC. For “Bachelor Pad” finale spoilers that were filmed last Sunday, please visit here. Also, for more information on the couples featured this week, please check out the slideshow above.
