Barksdale AFB Annual Back to School Night
Barksdale AFB Annual Back to School Night will be held tonight at 6 p.m. at Hoban Hall. This event provides an opportunity for base families to meet the educators from the local schools. School administrators and some teachers will be in attendance to share information and answer questions concerning the upcoming school year. There will also be a Uniform Depot where active-duty and reservists’ families can obtain free gently-used donated school uniforms. Uniforms will be available on a first-come, first-serve basis, and all ranks are invited to participate. Parents who would like to join the Barksdale AFB Parent Teacher Association can contact DeAngela White at email@example.com by Aug. 31. PTA dues are $6 a year per person.
(NEW) AFSA General Membership Meeting July 31
The Air Force Sergeants Association (AFSA) will hold a general membership meeting tomorrow at 6 p.m. at Stripes Lounge. Members, non-members and spouses are invited to attend to learn about AFSA.
Tops In Blue
Tops in Blue will be held August 2 at Hoban Hall. Doors open at 6 p.m. and show starts at 7 p.m. The show “Listen” is free. For more information, click here.
Blues and BBQ
Blues and BBQ, 3-10 p.m. will feature AJ & The Two Tone Blues Band (5-8:30 p.m.) at Hangar 2 on Barksdale AFB. Admission is free and the menu includes whole roasted suckling pigs, BBQ baby back ribs, pulled pork, BBQ chicken, assorted sausages, corn on the cob, simmered baked beans, cole slaw, potatosSalad, green beans with bacon, corn bread, rolls, peach cobbler, and watermelon. Cost for dinner is $10 or $12 for non members, or $6 for children 12 years and younger. There will be drink specials that include $1 sweet tea and bottled water, $3 Bud Lite Lime (Talls), and $4 Blue Moon Seasonal (Talls). Call 318-456-4926 for more information
Back to School Physicals
The Barksdale Pediatric and Family Health clinics will be conducting sports physicals Aug. 4 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sports physicals to meet back-to-school requirements, sports, camps and other activities will be conducted only for children ages six to 18. All youth sports activities on base require a physical. If physicals are not accomplished prior to activity, your child may be unable to participate. If your child’s activity requires any special forms to be filled out, bring them with you to the appointment. To make an appointment, call the Central Appointment Line at 456-6555 and request a “Sports Physical” appointment. These appointments are strictly for physicals only.
