Bethenny Frankel is no stranger to reality television and she knows what draws in the ratings. So, when she watched the Olympics over the weekend, she was surprised to see some political campaign commercials. But, given her experience in the television industry, she knows that anything is fair game when it comes to ratings. “It’s crazy that political parties can advertise on tv. Whether reality tv, a talk show, the news or politics, it’s all about ratings,” Bethenny tweeted to her fans yesterday, as she watched the Olympics.
When Bethenny was on “The Real Housewives of New York,” her friendship with Jill Zarin was completely ruined after Jill decided to tell Bethenny that she was done with their friendship while on speaking phone with LuAnn de Lesseps. Many saw Jill’s actions as being immature and rude, but it worked when it came to ratings. The third season of “The Real Housewives of New York” turned out to be one of the more successful seasons of the franchise, because of all the drama.
In addition, Bethenny knows that ratings are important to keep something on television. She put her life on the small screen for “Bethenny Ever After,” including her therapy sessions where she discussed her troubled marriage. She shared things that people would fight to keep private. In addition, she has been putting very intimate topics on her talk show, “Bethenny,” in hopes of getting ratings for a new season.
Do you think Bethenny understands how to get ratings? Do you think she is willing to do just about anything to get ratings to remain on television?
