Due to release on September 4 for only 400 Microsoft points on Xbox Live, Hearthfire is the newest addition to the highly addictive game Skyrim. Hearthfire isn’t going to fill your hours with more blasting or slashing, biting or chopping though. Instead, all of you that whittle away hours placing skulls in your houses, or putting that extra ink pot and quill on your desk will have a new way to creatively spend your time. Bethesda is allowing you to purchase a plot of land and custom build your very own house.
While they didn’t get in to too many details on how the tools are going to work in order to do it, they did say that you are going to have a lot of options including having a greenhouse, gardens outside and even the option of adopting a child. You will have options of trophy displays and even a tower with different crafting options. They showed some shrines also indicating that you could even make a place of worship in your new humble abode. While the gardens and greenhouse have the obvious benefit of making reagent gathering easier, no mention was made as to what benefit adoption will have. They also have given you the option to place a steward in your house to purchase more materials to craft the items to build your house faster.
With having to ward off skeevers and giants and craft the materials for your new home, as well as raise a new family, Hearthfire sounds like a great way to spend more quality time in Skyrim. The thirty day exclusivity applies to this DLC also, so you can expect that it will come to the PC and PS3 sometime after October.
