“Grand Palace” by Big Kitty is lush and full quirky indie folk.
The lead vocals in all of the songs is a male vocal that sounds kind of like Bob Dylan, but a little less strained. It doesn’t sound like he’s trying to do a Bob Dylan voice, but rather his timbre carries some of the same desperation and urgency as Dylan’s, and is comparable in that way.
Songs unfold and indulge, in the track “You Don’t Forget About It”, at times after a line is sung an eclectic chorus of singers will enter the production to hold a vocal sound with hollers, kazoo’s and other mouth noises.
The second track features a melancholy harmonica, and distant electric guitar behind their acoustic arrangement, while the third track kicks into full gear with multiple fiddles, electric guitar strikes, and a distant but powerful drum.
“Grand Palace” by Big Kitty is only a three track EP, but it’s completly full of spirit, interesting sounds, and cool production. After the third track is finished, the listener is left wanting much more.
