As part of the NBA 2K13 cover athlete triple threat, Blake Griffin figures to play an integral part of the game’s marketing, starting with a comedic turn alongside the twin comedy team the Lucas Brothers (click here to view). 2K Sports released the first episode in the series entitled “Talkin’ 2K” Wednesday and deadpan hilarity ensues.
In the new spot, Griffin takes the lessons he learned as an intern for Funny or Die and applies his signature ironic humor to the Lucas Brothers, who are more than willing to shoot down any of his suggestions to dominate All-Star Weekend. Blake even manages to unleash the famous “Blake Face” in the commercial that Chris Paul’s son has mastered after seeing it quite a bit during his father’s first season as a Clipper.
Sneaker fans will also notice the presence of a pair of the Nike+ Hyperdunk 2012 “USA” in the background of the commercial. If Griffin had not been injured during Team USA Basketball practice in Las Vegas a few months ago, he would have been a part of the gold-medal winning squad in London. As is the case, the shoes will stay on the shelves of the Lucas Brothers. But those with a keen eye for kicks will notice that Griffin is actually wearing the Hyperdunk 2012 as he performs one of his signature slams. It is actually a very different colorway than anything seen of the Hyperdunk 2012 so far, although it is actually very easy to recreate in NBA 2K13.
NBA 2K13 will be available Oct. 2 for Xbox 360 and Playstation 3. For more information on the game, click on the stories below.
