Bringing together a group of Bon Jovi fans either at a show or during hiatus at one of the JBJ Backstage Fan Club gatherings is always a titillating treat. The fans are experts at keeping the faith in its’ rabble of merry music-makers, and always keep one light burning for them in the hopes of a new album and subsequent tour.
In fact, Bon Jovi fans are a lot like the slogan that describes the U.S. postal service: “Neither snow nor rain nor dark of night” will keep a Bon Jovi fan “from their appointed rounds”.
In other words, it’s All-Jovi-All-The-Time, whether the band has just put out new music and gone on tour, or they’ve packed it in and gone home to play house.
Bon Jovi worship is a way of life.
It’s the reason for the season, the cause d’ etre, the driving force behind the engine that is this incredibly talented and enduring band.
Fans giggle and shriek, quiver and twitch at the slightest hint of a Jon Bon Jovi sighting; and when it comes to rumor and innuendo about new music and a possible tour well…it’s the equivalent of pumping fresh, cold oxygen into a casino to get the gamblers so buzzed and excited from the pure air that they plunge their brains out yet still enjoy the ride.
Periodically, this insatiable desire for anything and everything Bon Jovi can lead to momentary lapses of reason which then lead to misinformation, even when there is exciting album and tour news to be had.
What starts as an insider tip at a fan junket in Napa Valley whips all in the loop into a foaming-at-the-mouth frenzy, but by the time the news rockets through the stratosphere of social networking from the U.S. to London, Boston, Paris, and Munich it morphs, and peeps start to get things wrong.
That’s the bad news.
The good news—from a reliable source close to the band who declined to be identified for this article—is the following:
- Bon Jovi guitarist Richie Sambora’s solo tour in support of his new CD ‘Aftermath of the Lowdown’ will be a short one, consisting of two months worth of dates in the United States and Europe.
- Tickets for a 2013 Bon Jovi tour will likely go on sale in December, 2012; just in time for fans to play Jovi Clause and buy themselves and their loved ones the best tickets they can get their hot little hands on.
- The 2013 Bon Jovi tour will start in February, in advance of the new CD release.
- The new Bon Jovi album is expected to be released in March, 2013.
There you have it worldwide Bon Jovi fans: Richie Sambora’s new solo record and tour will be the appetizer to the main Bon Jovi Buffet.
You now have roughly three months to get those credit cards paid down, put in lots of over-time to fill your coffers with cash to spend on new music and cutting edge concert merchandise, and to get your fingers in shape for online ordering.
