Forecast discussion: A weak area of low pressure to our west helped create some showers for parts of eastern Massachusetts during the early evening. We may see an isolated shower or thunderstorm early Monday morning as the disturbance passes through the region.
On Monday, it may be the only day this week where we have sunshine for the entire day. High pressure over Ohio will bring some dry air over the state. By Monday night, more moisture returns thanks to a weak front moving into the Ohio River Valley. Also, with a deep long wave trough in the upper levels of the atmosphere, it will allow upper level disturbances to move quickly into our atmosphere. This will help keep the chance of showers or a thunderstorm from Tuesday night right into Thursday evening.
By Friday, a weak area of high pressure will bring some sunshine back on Thursday and Friday. But, any daytime heating could help trigger some showers. The weekend continues to be tough to forecast. Many computer models cannot come to an agreement on the weather pattern. The American and European models agree that we should see sunshine on Saturday, and another low approaching us for Sunday. But, the United Kingdom model keeps a weaker high over us on Friday, allowing the system to move towards New England on Saturday. That would give us rain showers by Saturday evening. For now, I will keep mostly sunny skies in the forecast for Saturday, as the majority of the models do agree on this forecast. We will see showers and thunderstorms arriving by early Sunday morning.
In the tropics, there are no areas of development being watched by the National Hurricane Center. However, a strong tropical wave will bring possible flooding to Puerto Rico in the next couple of days.
