After a cooler and drier day Wednesday, followed by a clear, calm and cool night the warm up begins Thursday. High pressure south of the region will set up a southwesterly flow and drive warmer air into southern New England. Although it had a fall chill in the air Thursday morning temperatures are expected to climb quickly through the morning hours, with highs topping out in the 80s during the afternoon. The air mass warms even more on Friday, with humidity increasing as well. The last day of August will go down as a hot and humid one as we close out the month.
We then turn our attention to September, Saturday and the Labor day Weekend all at once. And with that our first weather feature will be a dry cold front that will cross the region very early Saturday, with no fanfare other than to drop temperatures back a few degrees. High pressure will maintain control of the weather through at least Sunday. Once the cold front moves through we return to lower humidity and cooler more seasonable temperatures. Sunshine should prevail Saturday and Sunday. It looks like a splendid weekend of weather is ahead.
Monday remains dry, but with a few more clouds. These clouds will be the forerunner of Isaac’s remnants and there is the chance that rain could be here later Monday night or Tuesday. It is much too early to give you specific details on what we can expect for rainfall amounts, duration of rain and exact timing of arrival to departure of the inclement weather. Lets enjoy the great weather we have ahead of us in the short term as forecasts early this weekend can focus more on the weather issues of early next week.
