High pressure over the New England coast will drift slowly northeast into the Canadian Maritime provinces through Tuesday. An easterly to southeasterly low level wind flow will set up across the region during this time. This set up may bring a bit of marine influence into our region, thus causing patchy morning fog, periods of increased cloud cover, lower temperatures than that which may have been experienced without the cloud cover, and perhaps a shower or thunderstorm or two during the daytime hours. Precipitation should be fairly isolated should it even occur at all.
A slow moving cold front will approach the region Wednesday. This front looks to have trouble entirely clearing the Capital Region, and indications are that it may not make it totally through the area before losing its frontal characteristics. Some showers and thunderstorms are forecast across the region on Wednesday though in advance of the system.
The frontal system appears to “wash out”, or fizzle, Thursday morning, and may even attempt to ride back north as a warm front. This situation would return the region to some heat and humidity just in time for the end of the work week and the coming weekend. This would be replete with a chance of afternoon and evening shower and thunderstorm activity from time to time, and periods of haze and fog forming during muggy overnight periods.
