As a horror movie reviewer, this reviewer does her best to present reviews of little known horror films to horror fans of all ages. Whether it is a warning to steer clear of the film because of its lack in quality or recommending a film as an unsung hero, finding unique and unheard of horror films is essentially this reviewer’s bread and butter.
Through tedious searches came the discovery of a film called Cheerleader Camp (also known as Bloddy Pom Poms.) This film was shot in the year 1988 in Japan. Not only does this film star Betsy Russell (famous for her role as Jill Tuck in the Saw series), it also stars famous singer Leif Garrett.
Allison has nightmares, nightmares of murdering her fellow cheerleader campers. But when the murders actually seem to be taking place while she is asleep she is left wondering, is there a maniac on the loose or is she committing the crimes in her sleep?
This film was very amusing. The special effects are great and the performances are spot on. The plot was not incredibly original but still fun to watch, and this reviewer was pleasantly surprised at the quality of this movie. The setting for this film is both captivating and terrifying simultaneously and really adds something special to this film.
It is this reviewer’s opinion that this little known movie deserves more recognition than it has gotten in years passed. Fans of films like Sleepaway Camp and Camp Slaughter will surely enjoy Cheerleader Camp.
