It all started days ago when Dan Cathy, President of Chick-fil-A interviewed with Baptist Press and stated that his family-owned company “operates on biblical principles” and therefore “supports the traditional family.”
This set off an attack on the fundamental rights of free speech and religion of Christians. Why has there been such an all-out attack on Christian beliefs? Recently, I read a quote from a television star who said she hopes patrons of Chick-fil-A get cancer from eating there. Now that’s hateful speech. And yet Christians are accused of being hateful.
The belief in the traditional family comes from the bible. Therefore, because Christians believe the bible is God’s word these attacks are also against The Holy Bible and against God. According to Warren Kelly, President of Point of View, “It is becoming increasingly common to see a price tag attached to making any statement in support of biblical principles, especially in relation to the traditional family.” Have you ever wondered why that is? The traditional family and the marriage covenant were designed by God. The question now remains why is man attempting to change what God has ordained? Are we to become a nation that is anti-God?
As Christians we must stand up and protect our rights. Governor Mike Huckabee came up with the idea to show support for Dan Cathy and his right to publically express his values by calling for Wednesday, August 1st to be national Eat at Chick-fil-A Day. Just eat at one of Chick-fil-A’s restaurants to make a statement of support for religious freedom in the public square.
