Chloé, one of the most celebrated luxury women’s lifestyle brands, unveiled its Spring 2013 collection in the United States on Saturday, July 21, 2012. For those who were lucky enough to be invited, the event took place at the members-only Soho beach house. It was surely the most fashionable bunch of models, celebrities, socialites and trendsetters; Miami has ever had the pleasure of seeing. The place was swarming with the crème de la crème of beauties in the fashion world all sipping on iced Moët & Chandon champagne poolside as models strutted to beats by DJ Johnny the boy. Jonathan Cheban and supermodel, Julie Henderson amongst other celebs were spotted at the party.
The collection kept true to the Chloé brand with feminine details, pleating and soft ruffles. Bohemian infused tops, billowy belted dresses, safari chic pants, military pocket georgette dungarees and lace-paneled shirts added a fresh look to the season. All with an 80s sporty twist of: boxy silhouettes, round lace cutouts, pleated waistbands and tapered ankles. The earthy palette of muted colors in mineral shades of terracotta, beige, rust infused browns, pale sky blue, dusty lilac, coral all fused with crisp white was in complete contrast to other designers seen during the Mercedes Benz Fashion week. Clare Waight Keller, Chloé’s creative director, refers to the design inspiration as, “There is a touch of the late seventies in the ‘New Romantic’ softness, but I love it blended with the sharpness from the 80s and tapered tailoring.”
Swimwear designs were clean and classic with a sexy glimpse of low-scoop necklines. A standout look was a deep plunge monokini with a wide belt and high waisted leg. It was obvious that even though Chloé style appears safe, minimalist and understated it still appeals to the most scantily clad Miami women. To shop the current in-store looks visit Bal Harbour. Ciao Chloé, until next season.
