Whether you are financially well off or a blue-collar joe, everyone has guilty pleasures that they love to indulge in. These little pleasures can break the monotony of day to day life or enhance an already pleasurable experience.
Chocolate is often the vice of choice for many since it is so comforting and comes in a plethora of varieties. Today we explore a wonderfully sinful pairing – chocolate and wine. Both items can have a very powerful flavor profile when pairing with other consumables so it was definitely interesting to see how well the pair would compliment each other or fight with each other.
The selection for today was a wine and chocolate collaboration called Chocolate Rouge: Creamy Chocolate by the people at Chocolate Rouge. The maker describes it as consisting of grape wine, cream, natural flavors, caramel and “certified color”. Not sure what this means but I assume it refers to the fact that the contents of the bottle have a chocolate color.
This drink it self is quite tasty. It is very creamy and has a nice chocolaty taste without being too decadent and sugary. It is mostly chocolate with some wine blended in which is not overpowering at all but rather tickles your taste buds while the chocolate concoction makes its way past your tongue and to your belly.
Most other chocolate/wine drinks I have encountered are usually too chocolaty or the alcohol component is too strong so if you want something smooth, crisp and reminscent of a good chocolate milk upgraded for adults then check your local wine and spirits spot for Chocolate Rouge Creamy Chocolate.
If you prefer something closer to wine with hints of chocolate incorporated into it, check our the other offering by Chocolate Rouge – Chocolate Red Blend. I will be on the lookout for this one and give a review after I have a glass or three.
