“Project Runway: Season Four” winner Christian Siriano has just opened the doors to his first retail boutique. The narrow thousand foot store will not have its official grand opening until September 5 but is currently open in a soft launch to get things running smoothly in time for the big opening.
“I’m very excited to open my first retail concept store on Elizabeth Street in SoHo, a neighborhood which has always been a high end shopping destination,” the 26-year-old fashion designer said in a statement about the store. “I have always wanted to open a space where my customers can shop exclusive pieces curated by me and my team. The store is a great showcase for the collection to be seen each season, and I’m hoping this will be the first of many Christian Siriano retail locations!”
Siriano rose to fame after becoming the youngest fashion designer to win “Project Runway.” Since then he has created a fashion empire. His eponymous fashion line is sold through Neiman Marcus and Saks Fifth Avenue. He is also the creator of a discounted line of shoes, handbags, and accessories that is sold at Payless Shoe stores across the country.

He is the author of the fashion advice book “Fierce Style: How to Be Your Most Fabulous Self.” Siriano is as much a fashion personality as a fashion designer. He has spawned a host of famous catch-phrases such as “Fierce” and the much more controversial “Hot tranny mess,” for which he ultimately made a public apology to GLAAD for. He has become such an ingrained part of popular culture there are even Christian Siriano inspired wigs available for purchase online. He has been interviewed on the red carpet nearly as many times as celebrities have worn his couture dresses to the same events.

The new Christian Siriano store features a black and white color scheme with bright pops of color from the many orchid plants scattered around. Siriano is said to have been extremely hands on with the development of the store and it’s décor.
“To have a space that I’ve designed that showcases both my most recent collection and exclusive pieces is beyond thrilling,” Siriano told Elle magazine. “I can’t wait to see where this brings my brand in the future!”
The store features everything from formal gowns to ready to wear and even has an offering of Siriano’s Payless collection. The shop is located at 252 Elizabeth Street between Prince and Houston. The grand opening is September 5, though the shop is open to shoppers now. It is on the map as a participant in Fashion’s Night Out, the city-wide annual fashion event that is being held September 6. Christian Siriano is aiming to have a jewelry collection and housewares out for sale in time for Fashion’s Night Out.
