Mike Huckabee, who used to be the governor of Arkansas, issued a call: all Christians come out on Wednesday August 8, 2012 to show your support of Dan Cathy CEO of Chick-fil-A whose only “crime” was publically declaring his beliefs.
In case you missed it, the LGBT community rallied against Cathy and Chick-fil-A because on a Christian network Cathy affirmed his beliefs, based on Biblical principles, that marriage should be between a man and a woman. However, in a world where it has become shameful and radical to stand up for Biblical principles, Mike Huckabee commended Chick-fil-A and declared August first Chick-fil-A appreciation day.
Christians everywhere responded, with lines wrapping around Chick-fil-As around the country. Without Chick-fil-A offering discounts or freebees, people came out in groups to support an establishment whose owners are not willing to compromise. They did not come out because they are against the LGBT community; they came out in brotherly love to fellowship with other believers who believe when all is said and done, God’s word remains. “Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away” Matthew 24:35.
For those so called Christians who are fence sitters, afraid to stand up for righteousness because of what people may think or say, remember what Jesus said, “I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot; I wish that you were cold or hot. So because you are lukewarm, and neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out of My mouth” Revelation 3:15-16. It is not judgment or intolerance or bigotry to believe that which is true. If you believe that the Bible is God’s word, then you must also believe that He declared homosexuality a sin. Never are we told to support someone who is in sin. Love them yes, but support their sin, no. When you say you support same sex marriage, you are in effect saying, I support your sin and your choice to sin.
But I say, love enough to tell the truth. If God delivered you and set you free from your sin, share that message with your fellow man who you can see needs deliverance. It is not your job to save anyone, but deliver the message. If you see your brother in sin and you hold your tongue, his blood will be on your hands. Ezekiel 3:18, “When I say to the wicked, ‘You shall surely die,’ and you give him no warning, nor speak to warn the wicked from his wicked way, to save his life, that same wicked man shall die in his iniquity; but his blood I will require at your hand.”
It’s time for Christians everywhere to stand up for righteousness, not in anger, for anger begets anger, but in love. As Charles Swindoll of Insight for Living said, “The one who loves you the most tells you the truth.”
