Summer is heating up and the best place to spend a nice night with cool music is at Club Passim, 47 Palmer Street, in Cambridge Massachusetts. Born in New York but raised in Tennessee, award-winning singer-songwriter Mindy Smith grew up loving acoustic, bluegrass, country, alternative, jazz and folk music. Her love of music is what helped her create an album honoring Dolly Parton with Smith CD, ‘I’m a Woman: The Songs of Dolly Parton.’ Her latest CD is self-titled and was released in June, full of songs of healing and heartbreak. The Beach Boys are currently on their 50th anniversary reunion tour and music such as ‘Good Vibrations,’ ‘California Girls,’ and ‘Surfin’ USA’ has become timeless classics. Club Passim kicks off the month of August with a selection from their free weekly Wednesday summer concert series! Erik White, formally a member of New York City’s Greg Mayo Band, is a talented local guitarist in Jamaica Plain. He is currently touring Boston and New York, working on his debut CD. He is featured in Club Passim’s summer concert series on Wednesday, August 1st at 12 p.m. Admission is free!
Two fascinating performers will appear at Club Passim on Wednesday, August 1st and Thursday, August 2nd at 8 p.m. Singer-songwriters Cuddle Magic brings their unique, contemporary folk sound to Club Passim’s stage along with the stirring, soulful vocals of Jocie Adams, a member of indie folk band, ‘Low Anthem.’ ‘Low Anthem’ recently performed at WGBH and the Boston Globe’s free Summer Arts weekend series in Boston’s Back Bay.
Club Passim continues its free summer concert series on Thursday, August 2nd at 1 p.m. Amanda Addleman, a graduate of Berklee College of Music, is a multifaceted performer. Not only is she a pianist, arranger, and composer, but is also an educator. Her live shows range from pop music to her own musical pieces. Amanda will perform along with acclaimed jazz guitarist and fellow Berklee College graduate, Lee Dynes. They will showcase original music, jazz favorites, and selections from the Great American Songbook.
