The 2012 Disneyland Half Marathon will be run this Labor Day Weekend, on Sunday, September 2nd. It may be too late to do any effective training, but there’s still plenty of time to plan your adventure. Lodging, parking, refreshment, crowd manipulation; we’ve got you covered.
What does any off this have to do with the Vodka Examiner? Aside from being a dedicated participant in the race, the Disneyland Resort is now home to one of humanity’s more amazing vodka cocktails. Fillmore’s Pomegranate Limeade, available in the new Cars Land, at Disney’s California Adventure, is a delicious and refreshing frozen delight for all ages. Fillmore’s Pomegranate Limeade, featuring SKYY Vodka, is an icy blessing in a glass for those who know where to get it.
Lodging: If you don’t have a room yet, shame on you. Apart from Christmas, this is Disney’s busiest time of year. Get online now and start combing the travel sites. Expedia, Hotels.com, etc., do have area rooms available, but you are going to pay a premium for your procrastination. Fortunately for you, Fillmore’s Pomegranate Limeade sells for one price, no matter how badly you lagged on the hotel thing.
Parking: while expertly arranged, as is everything Disney, traffic can and will be insufferable given the popularity of the weekend’s events. Park at your hotel and don’t move your car until Monday. If you are planning to simply drive in for the day, reconsider. Get a hotel room, where you can park you car and forget about it ’til Monday. Freed from driving responsibilities, you may then enjoy the splendor that is Fillmore’s Limeade.
Getting Around: the Disneyland Half Marathon is an expertly conceived, designed and delivered event, and is thus very, very well attended. Add in your vacationing Labor Day masses, and you are going to want to temper your expectations vis-a-vis what you can ride, see, and even get to this weekend. Traveling, eating, even using the restroom; give yourself extra time for everything. Understand that you may not get on all your favorite rides, and you will not get on the new Radiator Springs attraction unless you are prepared to wait for it. What you may want to do instead is locate the Cozy Cone and, yes, get yourself a Limeade. There will be a line for this as well, but it’s well worth it. The Vodka Examiner is currently in negotiations with the Disney Company regarding a Cozy Cone FASTPASS.
