It’s that time of year-parents are looking for quality early childhood education for their young children. Parents are aware that early education is increasingly important for later school success. Preschool for toddlers, 3’s, and 4’s is increasingly necessary to get ready for kindergarten. Parents also want a comfortable, non-threatening early education classroom for their little ones .
The Foundations Academy of Fine Arts and Character in the Lakewood Ranch area of Sarasota has a unique group of classrooms for young children that is a bit different from what you might find in a typical early childhood education center. Most early childhood classrooms are organized with learning centers for math skills, early literacy skills, science, and art. The Foundations Academy takes a slightly different approach with its unique learning atmosphere by organizing its classrooms into three distinct areas.
Its “Home Room” learning area is set up to represent a child’s home atmostphere with sofas, a kitchen table, and a computer center. Young children who have never attended preschool will find this area particularly inviting because it looks like their house. This comfortable learning area provides a non-threatening learning area for early skills and the development of socialization skills.
The “One-Room Schoolhouse” learning area is organized as a traditional classroom with a teacher’s desk and chalkboard. Your child will find this learning area appealing and participating in this area will allow young children to become familiar with how “big school” will look when they are ready for kindergarten.
The third area of the Foundation Academy of Fine Arts and Character is the “Subject Center”. This area is organized into individual subject learning and enrichments centers. Children move from center to center throughout the day to explore the daily lessons and activities. Daily assignments are set up in this area for children to explore and complete.
The Foundations Academy of Fine Arts and Character will be of particular interest to parents who are looking for early character education for their young children. It is becoming increasingly important for our young children to learn character-building skills to navigate interactions with peers. The Academy uses the Bob Jones Curriculum for teaching character-building skills. This curriculum is a nationally recognized early education curriculum that is age and developmentally appropriate.
The Foundations Academy of Fine Arts and Character is the second academy in the 3-academy group of the Foundations Developmental Learning Academy in the Lakewood Ranch area of Sarasota. It is located at 7041 Professional Parkway East. Interested parents may call Heather Downing at 941-907-7078 for more information and to schedule a tour of all of the academies. Their grand opening of their new Montessori academy will also be of interest to parents who may be interested in Montessori education for their young child.
