Elections 2012: The Republican National Convention was marred Tuesday by racism on the floor of the GOP event in Tampa. At least two people were ejected after throwing nuts and yelling racist language at an African American camera operator.
Citing a CNN news report Wednesday, the GOP Convention in Tampa was the site of something that arguably resembled the days of Jim Crow.
Sources say two identified convention-goers allegedly yelled, “This is how we feed animals,” at a black woman camera operator, while pelting her with nuts.
The racist incident at the Republican National Convention was reported on Twitter by a former MSNBC anchorman.
David Shuster tweeted this about the alleged matter of racism at the Republican Convention:
“GOP attendee ejected for throwing nuts at African American CNN camera woman + saying “This is how we feed animals.” @TakeActionNews #TAN”
Reportedly, the unidentified persons were removed from the floor of the GOP event. However, it is unknown if they were arrested and charged or if the African American camerawoman was injured.
After the alleged racist incident, CNN released a short statement about the matter. It read:
“CNN can confirm there was an incident directed at an employee inside the Tampa Bay Times Forum earlier this afternoon. CNN worked with convention officials to address this matter and will have no further comment.”
RNC 2012 elections officials followed up with a statement of their own. It read:
“Two attendees tonight exhibited deplorable behavior. Their conduct was inexcusable and unacceptable. This kind of behavior will not be tolerated.”
Protesters during the 2012 elections were expected but only on the issues Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan would have to tackle during their campaign as Republican candidates.
However, racism is something altogether different, especially when it involves the long-standing belief by some blacks and democrats that the GOP is primarily a party of the uber-rich.
Racism at the Republican National Convention 2012 elections is not something the Party of Lincoln needs; minorities like African Americans and Latinos can make the difference as to whether Mitt Romney or Obama claims victory for the White House.
The GOP Convention in Tampa is in full swing after Hurricane Isaac, tropical storm days ago, caused widespread delays over safety fears.
Racist and offensive behavior at the GOP National Convention will only give the Democrats another issue to exploit as they prepare for their own party in Charlotte next week.
Does it help or hurt Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan against Obama? Was it even racist to begin with?
