Good Wednesday morning, going to get straight to it. Another beautiful day in store across Central Indiana with wall to wall sunshine and highs 82 to 87. Thursday will also be sunny and warm, a touch more humidity as winds switch to the south, highs 82 to 88. Then the weekend forecast will be another story, but before we get to the weekend forecast, an update on Hurricane Isaac. Isaac has made actually 2 landfalls as Isaac briefly on Tuesday evening went back over the open waters before slowly moving back inland. Isaac right now is over the bayous of Louisiana and thus far has kept Isaac from beginning the weakening process as winds are still at 80 mph. Isaac will slowly move to the northwest for the next 12 to 24 hours before making the swing to the northeast, which leads to the weekend forecast here. Clouds will be on the increase on Friday with thunderstorms developing during the afternoon hours. It will be humid and highs around 90. Saturday and Sunday will very likely be washout days with rain and isolated thunderstorms. Rain will be very heavy at times with the threat of tornadoes if the track of Isaac verifies. Rainfall estimates from HPC at this time could be in the range of 3 to 5 inches, with isolated areas possibly seeing as much as 7 inches of rain by Sunday afternoon. Not only could this end the drought, but could cause some significant flooding to the area, so this will be monitored very carefully during the next few days. Now here’s the detailed forecast through Friday.
