Balboa Park will be hosting its annual Contemporary Art Fair showcasing dozens of art works from vendors throughout the U.S. This is a 3 day event starting Friday from 12 p.m. to 7 p.m. For further details visit www.balboapark.org
The Padres home game with Arizona Diamondbacks will also be a Beer fest Day at Petco Park. All beer will be $5 for game day. Any microbrewery lovers out there, this is a great way to enjoy some or your favorite breweries and a game at the same time. All proceeds from this even will help to fund the Padres Foundation.
Are you a fan of the arts and theatre? Lyceum Theater next to Horton Plaza has Steve Solomon’s comedy “My Mother’s Italian, My Father’s Jewish & I’m Still in Therapy” has three show this weekend. Friday’s show is at 8 p.m. Saturday has two show times at 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. Regular priced tickets are $45.00 – $55.00. However, www.goldstar.com is offering discounted tickets from $$22.50 – $27.50. A good night of comedy at a fairly decent price to provide plenty of laughs.
Saturday, September 8:
Thousands of Americans will forever remember the tragic terrorist attack of the Twin Towers on September 11, 2001. In remembrance of all of the fallen fire fighters who lost their lives in this historic event and in support of a local fireman and his family (Arsenio “RC” Ortanez), the Hilton Bayfront Hotel will host a fund raising event. There will be a raffle for a 2013 Harley-Davidson Iron 883 courtesy of San Diego Harley-Davidson. Tickets are $20 with 90% of the proceeds going to firefighters and their families. Calling all classic car enthusiasts! Go out to Old Town to enjoy the free Kustom Kulture car show from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. If you didn’t catch that ‘f’ word in the first sentence, this event is FREE. Streets will be lined with dozens of custom cards, motorcycles, hot rods and more. An auction will also be held to benefit the San Diego youth program ‘Just in Time for Foster Youth’. San Diego Film Festival is hosting another FREE movie night in the beautiful La Jolla Cove at Ellen Browning Scripps Park at 7:30 p.m. The recently released movie MIRROR MIRROR starring Julia Roberts, Lily Collins, Armie Hammer and Nathan Lane will be presented to provide the entire family with lots of PG laughs. This is a light hearted, funny twist to the original storyline of Snow White. The local of this outdoor screening is also home to a beautifully landscaped ocean view to provide all with a two for one of a movie and splendorous view. Who doesn’t love a drive-in movie? Add in a nice change of pace of old classic movies rather than new releases and you will want to hop into the car and take a ride over to Full Moon Drive-In located at 1500 Felspar Street, San Diego, Ca. 92109. Saturday’s showcase is the 1984’s classic: Karate Kid starring Ralph Maccio. Sunday’s showcase is The Shawshank Redemption starring Morgan Freeman and Tim Robbins. Spreckels Park in Coronado will showcase the last concert in the park of the 2012 summer season at 5 p.m. The band Midlife Crisis will provide its musical entertainment until 7:30 p.m. Please remember there are no dogs in the park and seating is on a first come basis.
