This fall is your chance to get free tickets to Independence MO attractions and museums. Autumn is the very best time to enjoy Independence’s colorful and historic walks. Saturday, September 29 will be a lot more fun if you don’t mention the word “museum” to the kids.
Smithsonian museums in Washington, D.C. is spearheading a promotion to encourage awareness of museums. The purpose is to increase museum attendance by folks who do not usually visit museums.
In Independence Missouri, five museums will offer free admission.
All residents and visitors are invited to take advantage of free admission. These five Independence museums are participating.

· Harry S. Truman Library and Museum, 500 W. U.S. 24 Highway
· National Frontier Trails Museum, 318 W. Pacific
· Puppetry Arts Institute, 11025 E. Winner Road
· Vaile Mansion, 1500 N. Liberty
In order to gain admission, click. Print off the special ticket pass that is good for free admission to a museum for the ticket holder and one guest. Limited of one ticket per household.

The Harry S Truman Home National Historic Site will be free all day in honor of National Lands Day. Tickets for the Truman home at 201 N. Delaware requires advance tickets. Be sure to get your complimentary tickets for specific tour times at the Truman Home Ticket Center, 223 N. Main.

Visit the Truman Information Ticket Center at 223 N. Main to get maps of the tour, click on “Cell Phone Tours” and select “Around the Corner from the Truman Home” for a tour map of sites in the neighborhood, or select “The Political Education of Harry Truman” for a tour map of sites on the historic Independence Square.
