Sgt. Eddie North is a good Philadelphia cop and a trusted leader of his division. It is time to go home when North receives a call requesting supervisor backup from two of his officers. This is not an unusual request, it usually means that someone is trying to escape the necessary paperwork. However, this call is quite different. The officers have found a badly beaten powerful African-American city councilman who claims that the two officers attacked him and demands that they be arrested. What follows are days of bad public relations for the department and two murders. This is great suspense, but be warned: as in life not all the bad guys die and sometimes the good ones do.
This was a great read, very suspenseful, but in some parts really sweet. This is one of those books that is great for a book club because people will have different reactions to it.
