Coming up this week for your HOF enjoyment are a few of the festivals main attractions.
Wednesday, Aug. 1st, the Enshrinement Festival Ribs Burnoff kicks off and runs through Friday, Aug. 3rd. Starting at 11 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. Local and national ribs vendors will compete for cash prizes by tantilizing patrons with their delectable, mouth-watering ribs, sauce variations and specialty foods.
Nightly concerts start at 8 p.m. Wednesday night the Gin Blossoms take the stage with their grung pop rock hits. Thursday night will be County artist Jason Michael Carroll, and Friday will feature the rock melodies of Saving Abel. Tickets for the concerts are just $9 each. Call 330-458-2048. There will be free parking until 4 p.m. Interactive inflatables will be in the Fantasy Football Zone. A master sand scuptor will be on hand, as well as face painters, always popular with the kids.In the Exhibition hall you will find builders putting on finishing touches on floats for the Grand Parade on Aug 4 th.
All of this will be at the Stark County Fairgrounds located at 305 Wertz Ave. NW, free addmission with exception to the concert portions.
Also this week is the Pro Football Hall of Fame First Play Event. This event features youngters and participants 6-17 years old passing an official NFL football along a three mile route from the site downtown where the NFL was founded in 1920, and concludes on the front steps of the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Sort of a local Olympic torch race, but with a football. Starts at 10 a.m. It’s free, and a First Play T-shirt, a lunch, and admission to the Hall is included for the participants, for information on how to participate please contact Jerry Czaki at the Hall of Fame, 330-456-8207, firstname.lastname@example.org.
Then for the Ladies, and football fans alike the Festival Fashion Show and Luncheon on August 3rd, takes off down the runway, after lunch of course, with professional models and featuring the season’s hottest men’s and women’s fashions. Doors open at 11 a.m.with lunch served at 11:30. Tickets are $57 and $55.

The Enshrinement Festival Gold Jacket Dinner, also at the Civic Center begins at 5:15 p.m. Emceed by a national sports broadcaster, Jack Butler, Dermontti Dawson, Chris Doleman, Cortez Kennedy, Curtis Martin, and Willie Roaf will receive their gold jackets. Also the Pete Rozelle Radio-Television award will be presented to Hall of Famer, and Alliance, OH native Len Dawson.
