Since 1986, George has been raising money for food banks and service organizations and will continue to do so by working with a local food bank in every tour market to hold a CANNED FOOD DRIVE at the show and by donating 100% of his merchandise sales to the organization. At this show he will work with The Food Bank Of The Rockies.
George released a new CD Gulf Coast Blues & Impressions 2 – A Louisiana Wetlands Benefit on March 20, 2012 on SONY MUSIC. However, this is his first U.S.tour since the release of the new CD. Please let me know if you would like a copy of the new CD sent as a zipped file.
The loss of the Gulf area wetlands is the most significant environmental crisis being faced now in the U.S. The condition of the wetlands also directly affects the vulnerability of New Orleans and surrounding areas to storms. This album will benefit the work of groups such as The Voice of the Wetlands organization, which was established by musician Tab Benoit in 2004 as a volunteer-based non-profit organization, to raise awareness and develop educational outlets & programs about the loss of the wetlands in southern Louisiana, and today to also help heal the damage from the oil spill.
Since 1972, George has released 12 solo piano albums, including his beloved December and Autumn, and has performed thousands of shows, which always include renditions of his most beloved solo piano works. He also performs some of the late Vince Guaraldi’s Peanuts soundtrack pieces. The piano music George is working on now is primarily New Orleans R&B oriented, melodic folk piano and stride piano. His captivating live show also includes performances on harmonica and Hawaiian slack key guitar, the name for the beautiful solo finger-style guitar tradition, unique to Hawaii, which began in the early 1800’s.
George’s last studio effort, the solo piano album Love Will Come-The Music of Vince Guaraldi Vol 2, was released in February of 2010 on Sony Music and is available upon request.
