Bela Fleck with Marcus Roberts Trio: The boundary-bursting banjoist has teamed up with the New Orleans-rooted pianist and his band for a new album and, now, tour, With Rodney Jordan (bass) and Jason Marsalis (drums). 8 and 10 p.m.; also 8 and 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Yoshi’s, 1330 Fillmore, San Francisco. $26-$40; 8 p.m. Tuesday, Napa Valley Opera House, 1030 Main St., Napa. $60-$65; 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Three Stages, 10 College Parkway, Folsom. $39-$59.
Hot Club of San Francisco: Paul Mehling and his band of Gypsy jazzers head to Santa Cruz to celebrate the release of the group’s new album. 7 p.m. Kuumbwa Jazz Center, 320 Cedar St., Santa Cruz. $20-$23.
Yellowjackets: This pioneering fusion unit has seen some personnel changes over the past 30-plus years but maintains its core of Russell Ferrante (keyboards) and Bob Mintzer (saxophone). They are joined by Felix Pastorius (bass) and William Kennedy (drums). 8 and 10 p.m.; also 8 and 10 p.m. Saturday, 6 and 8 p.m. Sunday. Yoshi’s, Jack London Square, Oakland. $10-$25.
James Cotton: It is always a pleasure and privilege to note that Superharp himself is back in Northern California. From his years with Muddy Waters to his decades-long solo career, Cotton has remained true to the blues. Madeleine Peyroux: The vocalist-guitarist’s current West Coast swing includes a Wine Country stop. 8 p.m. Napa Valley Opera House, 1030 Main St., Napa. $40-$45.
Mike Galisatus Big Band: Featuring some of the region’s top players, this ensemble will work through a program of originals and cover tunes with Duane Lawrence providing the vocal firepower. 4:30 p.m. Douglas Beach House, Half Moon Bay. $35.
