Want a way to enjoy a performance and at the same time encourage young people involved in theater—at a more than reasonable price? Just purchase season tickets to Grand Canyon University’s Ethington Theatre, located at 3300 W. Camelback Road in Phoenix, for a mere $40 per person. The 311-seat theater connects the audience with the performers and is also used for dance and music recitals and digital film screenings.
Ethington’s upcoming 2012/2013 season’s productions include the following:
“Much Ado About Nothing” – The William Shakespeare comedy about two pairs of lovers, Benedick and Beatrice, and Claudio and Hero, runs Aug. 31-Sept. 2 and Sept. 7-9.
“Beauty and the Beast” – The tale of the beautiful Belle and the hideous Beast, who turns out not to be a Beast after all, and “Comedy on the Bridge,” an opera in one act by Bohuslav Martinu, runs Oct. 12-14 and 19-21.
“A Christmas Carol” – Remember Ebenezer Scrooge, Jacob Marley and the Ghosts of Christmas Past, Present, and Yet to Come? This classic Dickens tale runs Nov. 23-25 and Nov. 30-Dec. 2.
“The Cherry Orchard” – Russian playwright Anton Chekhov’s last play, “The Cherry Orchard,” runs Feb. 15-17 and 22-24.
“H.M.S. Pinafore” – Filled with infectious tunes, this popular Gilbert and Sullivan opera about love between members of different social classes runs Apr. 12-14 and 19-21.
