If, like many ladies, the idea of camping triggers memories of suffocating tents, stale peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, and no showers. It’s time to change that–thanks to the two-women force that created the Sunwolf Resort, just 45 minutes outside of Vancouver. Each had high-powered careers in London, but the moment that they saw the property, they knew life was going to change forever. With the help of their husbands, lots of elbow grease, and love, they transformed this once rundown fishing station into a buzzing hot spot for urbanites who want to get away from the harsh glare of the city, but don’t want to give up the creature comforts of modernity.
Sunwolf, in British Columbia, Canada, has mastered the art of “Glamping.” It is a combination of camping with all the luxuries that girlfriends need to have an incredible getaway without all the drama of backpacks and sleeping bags. That includes charming cabins with full bathrooms, fireplaces, and the all-important coffee makers.
Located on the plush banks of the Cheakamus River, the properties has ten private cabins, communal barbecues, hot tub, fire pit, volleyball net, horseshoes and the delightful Fergie’s Café that serves breakfast, lunch, and on the weekends dinner.
During special times of year, Fergie’s Café host incredible 12-course tasting dinners. Guests dine under the stars, while the chef bring out courses created especially for that season. Dishes include fresh salmon, just-picked vegetables, and local artesian cheeses.
Go for a ride on the river!
The resort is famous for one of the more fabulous rafting trips in the area. The crew at Sunwolf will take care of all the details for you and your girlfriends – including the wetsuits and lunch. You raft through the Elaho valley, a part of British Columbia’s unspoiled wilderness, with old growth forests, hanging glaciers, cascading waterfalls… and two mighty Class IV rivers for you and your girlfriends to conquer. It does help that the rafting crew is really handsome and fit.

After all that hard work, spend the evening around the open fire pit drinking Bailey’s and hot chocolate or soaking in the hot tub. Or better yet – enjoy both!
