Looking for a unique, adventurous viewing of a Shakespeare classic? Well, look no further. It’s time to lace up your hiking books or tighten up those Keens and enjoy a walk up one of Boulder’s lovely trails to catch A Band of Tough’s version of A Midsummer Night’s Dream. Presented as a part of the Boulder International Fringe Festival, A Band of Toughs, one of Boulder’s cutting edge theatre companies, will continue their season with this hilarious and daring outdoor production. Audience members will take a light hike up Settler’s Park to see a play full of passionate fools and fickle lovers at twilight.
The award-winning theatre company is committed to their genre-mashing, collaborative projects. Each production develops through a creative, laboratory process, where they are shown in a workshop setting and the audience is invited to give critical feedback and suggestions, thus creating a collective, community experience.
Stepping out of their own comfort zone this will be the company’s first adventure working with a Shakespeare play. Blurring the line between the actors and the audience, the Band of Toughs will utilize the natural setting of the great outdoors of colorful Colorado to create a playful, interactive community-building event.
Don’t forget to dress accordingly and keep in the mind the ever-changing weather beautiful Boulder can bring! This performance will happen rain or shine, so it might be wise to pack a rain jacket, umbrella or poncho.
You can purchase advanced tickets online at www.boulderfringe.com or phone the festival box office at 303-803-5643. If you choose, however, to pay at the park box office the evening of the performance, don’t forget to bring cash or your checkbook.
