It is an absolutely amazing time to be in SW Florida and any part of this grand local music scene we all share and love! Just when you think it has peaked, there are new surprises and treats. Last week was packed with musical ‘treats’ and this week is nipping at last week’s heels…strap yourselves in, as this storm is not passing by quickly.
Last week brought a grand release party for Across Culture, and their CD EP ‘Divine Intervention’ at Rack em Billiards–captured by a great phtogorapher on my team, Annette Lee. Other bands that were on this bill enhanced the impeccable live performance of Across Culture and those included: Atom Smash, Verse and Tug.
If anyone out there in SW Florida has yet to catch a live show from Across Culture, it is highly recommended that you check out their Facebook page as well as their website for any upcoming dates. The best all original local band you will find!
The highlight of this rocker’s week; however, was the explosive and ground breaking return of 10,000 Views at the Beached Whale. This show brought the debut of the newest member of the band, John Hyatt and to say this is an improvement is only a drop in the bucket! The new page for this band will only open doors to newer opportunities, as the versatility combined with the signature original music from these three magicians is beyond verbal description. This is not a show, but an experience and you must see it in person to gain the full effect! 10,000 Views returns to the Beached Whale again, this evening and again this coming Sunday for anyone that may have had to miss this most triumphant return.
Onto this week and the ‘musical wonderland’ it packs. SW Florida better prepare for a storm of the musical kind, as there are many powerful performances this week ahead and into the weekend.
First, there is a local gem of a band making their live performance debut at the famed Cigar Bar LIVE this coming weekend, that band would be none other than Myth. Myth has been popping up all over the local live scene as of late, with also becoming a regular rotated feature on the docket of the also famed Buddha Nightclub, as well as opening up for some tribute bands rolling through SW Florida over the last few months. This band at the Cigar Bar is a definite stop on your journey downtwon this weekend indeed!
Wallow Sound packs yet another music packed evening for fans at Rack em Billiards this coming Saturday, as they play with featured bands such as: 10 Even, Day Minus 7 and Fight Another Day. The boys of Wallow Sound pack more versatility within their group that most around and that alone is definitely worth catching live, let alone the fact that these gracious talents always tend to bring a full bill with them to their shows. Kudos to sharing the fame, wealth and love that our SW Florida fans bring to any show!
There is a fabulous night planned at the Dixie Roadhouse this coming Thursday evening, as Razor & Tie signed act Nonpoint bring their brand of hard drving rock to SW Florida for their first return in years. This promises to be a highly impacting and memorable show, to say the least, this bill also packs other acts such as: Eye Empire, Surrender the Fall, and Day Minus 7. The evening will be action packed; however, the best part for this fan will be the finale, when Nonpoint hits the stage! Get your tickets if you have not already, either at Dixie Roadhouse or here: http://nonpointworld.eventbrite.com/
Finally, as mentioned earlier, 10,000 Views will again bring their newly impressive line-up and grand show back to the Beached Whale this evening, as well as this coming Sunday as well. If fans thought they have seen what Stet Howland and Timmy Johnston had up their sleeves prior, you really must see them now with the addition of John Hyatt to this already powerful roster. The Joe Satriani cover alone is worth any travel involved. Come raise the roof with 10,000 Views at the Whale!

This Sunday evening also packs the true final round in our local Battle of the Bands that has been hosted at Backstreets Sports Bar, in Cape Coral, over the last few months. The music and competition launches at 5:00 PM and rolls until the winner is decided by the crowd and the noise measuring meter.
