We are currently smack-dab in the middle of summer and that means we are also in middle of outdoor festival season! Now, the Basilica Block Party has already happened, along with Moondance Jammin’ and several others note but as July has gotten hot, the biggest festivals of the season have gotten hotter, with big names to draw even bigger audiences!
Here is a breakdown of the big names and big festivals that are happening!
Minneapolis Aquatennial (downtown Minneapolis) –July 13-21, 2012
Dubbed the “Best Days of Summer”; this will be the City of Minneapolis’s 73rd year of the Aquatennial. The Aquatennial includes the Aquatennial Block Party, Star Tribune Beach Bash,
CenterPoint Energy Torchlight Parade and to end the event Target Fireworks with pre-fireworks festivities! Line up and announcements have yet to be posted, so keep your eye on their website for details! aquatennial.com
Moondance Jam (Walker, MN) – July 19-21, 2012
One of the summer’s biggest outdoor events, boasting a rock AND country festival. This year’s roster includes Kid Rock, female rockers; Heart, Hinder, CCR’s John Fogerty, former Eagles guitarist; Don Felder and 70’s rockers Grand Funk Railroad to top off the list. Some of Minnesota’s finest performing are: Bad Animals and Comfortably Pink on 7/18, July Fighter on 7/19,and Transit Authority 7/21. Country Jam (Eau Claire, WI) – July 19-21, 2012
If you like pure country festivals this is it! 3 days of old school country starting at 2p all 3 days. This year’s headliners are Trace Adkins, Montgomery Gentry and Jason Aldean. RockFest (Cadot, WI) – July 19-22, 2012.
Classic Rock fan? Then this Wisconsin festival is for you! Filled with classic rock acts such as Iron Maiden, Def Leppard, Poison, Godsmack, Alice Cooper, Lita Ford, Sebastian Bach (Skid Row) and Firehouse! Tickets run $77.50 for a 1 day pass and $155. Halfway Jam (Royalton, MN) – July 26-28, 2012.
Halfway between heaven and the Twin Cities (almost in the middle of the state actually), The outdoor fest boasts a solid band line up. Featuring Queensryche, Bang Tango, Enuff z’Nuff, Molly Hatchet, 38 Special, Stryper and Jackyl to name a few! If you’re a classic rock/80’s fan, I would recommend this!
FireFest (Cold Spring, MN) – July 28, 2012
Cold Spring’s Fire and Rescue Dept & Relief Association festival. Held in Cold Spring, MN this festival is one of the cheapest summer events of the season, not that they don’t provide a whopper of a show, they do!It is definitely worth the drive to see this year’s lineup which includes Dierks Bentley, LoCash Cowboys, Rocket Club, Randy Houser and The Fabulous Armadillos: A Tribute to the Eagles! WeFest (Detroit Lakes, MN.) – Aug 2-4, 2012

Rockwoods JamFest (Ostego, MN.) – Aug 3-4, 2012
Last year’s JamFest pulled in over 5000 people last year, sponsored by local radio JackFM and staged by Farber Sound & Stage doubling the special effects, sound equipment plus two high definition LED jumbo screens this year is to top last year’s events. Supporting national and local acts Friday’s Line up includes: Peter Frampton, Foghat, Eddie Money and Ten13 Entertainment darlings, the Bad Animals will bring down the house with a bit of Heart! Rodfest (Nimrod, MN.) – Aug 9-11, 2012
This local festival will be one of the last outdoor festivals before it gets cold. Dubbed the Biggest Party of the Summer, this festival includes some of the best local acts in the Twin Cities . Artist’s include ZZ3, Momentary lapse of Floyd, World according to Garth, and Ten13 Entertainment’s Bad Animals, Zed Lepplin and Van Halen Army to top off the list. Ramble Jam (Dakota County Fairgrounds) – September 14-15, 2012
Held at the Dakota County fairground site in Farmington, Ramble Jam has reinvented itself. The last outdoor festival of the season; usually pretty cold in September, so bring your jacket! This country festival roster includes Frankie Ballard, Bomshel and local acts Hitchville, Rocket Club, Ten 13’s Lost Highway and local sweetheart Sarah Wallin will play twice on the second stage.
