Beer festivals and beer tastings abound this summer in the greater Houston area. A few events are repeats from previous years and are still going strong. Others are making their debut in 2012 and one of these new beer festivals is just a few days away. Here are the facts:
Who: Houston City Club
What: Houston City Club Beer Festival
Where: One City Club Drive, Houston, TX
When: Thursday, July 26, from 5:30 p.m. to 10 p.m.
Why: To sample some local brew paired with just the right food
Houston City Club is place where business leaders and families gather to network with others, enjoy a laugh, play, and relax. It is also known as a meeting place for special events and its welcoming atmosphere makes it the perfect setting for a beer-tasting occasion. Organized by Houston City Club, Houston Beer Fest, and Beerlovers.com, The Houston City Club Beer Festival is the first event of its kind and it will feature beer products from local and other Texas breweries including No Label, Real Ale, Buffalo Bayou, Saint Arnold, Southern Star, Alamo, Karbach, and Independence.
Beer may be the main order of the evening, but there is more to the Houston City Club Beer Festival than simply sampling fine brew. Part of the event is beer/food appreciation and the club’s executive chef is going to prepare food selections made specifically for their compatibility with each of the beer products offered. Education is a main part of the theme and guests will likely come away with a newfound respect for beer and its ability to complement fine dining.
Other highlights of the Houston City Club Beer Festival include guest appearances by Saint Arnold’s Brock Wagner and the Houston Chronicle’s Ronnie Crocker, along with representatives from two up- and- coming Houston brewing operations, Fort Bend Brewing and Town in City Brewing. Great door prizes, a trip to Barton Creek in Austin, and a “design a beer” opportunity by Buffalo Bayou Brewing are among the many surprises awaiting attendees at this first time beer festival.
The Houston City Club Beer Festival is limited to only 300 guests, so interested parties need to act quickly. Reservations are required and can be made by calling 713-840-9001 or by sending an e-mail to firstname.lastname@example.org. The cost is $25 per person and those who prefer to reserve their place via the internet can visit Eventbrite.
Beer festivals and special beer tastings continue to find their way into the Houston area and the Houston City Club Beer Festival is shaping up as one of the more educational and informative among them. Call, e-mail, or visit Eventbrite today and enjoy your beer and food education at the Houston City Club.
