Exercise seems like a chore way too often. Nonetheless, it is necessary for your family to be healthy, and it can be really fun. Here are some tips to get your family started on the road to becoming a healthier family by being more active, and having a good time doing it.
Take a class together
Explore a variety of exercise options
Take a different type of class separately, and share your experiences
Each member lead the rest of the family in their favorite activity
On every commercial do jumping jacks until your favorite family T.V. show comes back on
Set a timer and whenever it goes off-stop what you are doing and stretch
Put on music and have a dance competition
Wake up every morning and practice yoga
Put your family’s favorite pilates exercises in a covered container and pick five that the family can do throughout the day, whether together or separately
Go outside and play a friendly game of tag, kickball, or four square
Make a trip to the park and play
Take daily walks, alternating between days to speed walk, and days to leisurely stroll
Make it a point to walk up the stairs when out, instead of taking the elevator or escalator.
The best part about a family being active together is that it is motivating! Family members can motivate each other, and in turn themselves. The most important thing, however, is to not make being active another boring item on the to-do list, but make it something that everybody can enjoy.
