National Tequila Day is July 24, and while tequila may be the source of many bad decisions, it is also the birthplace of a lot of very good times
Tequila is North America’s first distilled drink, and its first commercially produced alcohol. Tequila’s roots go back into pre-Hispanic times when natives fermented sap from maguey plants into a drink called pulque. Tequila is distilled from the Agave plant the plant, and it’s leaves were used for a hemp-like fiber to make clothing, rope and paper. A great use for the entirety of the plant.
