The “I Dream of Jeannie” TV sitcom will be remembered by a historic marker this Friday. The installation and ceremony for this marker in Cocoa Beach will be at 1:pm at Lori Wilson park. Speakers will be Joe Morgan chairman of the Brevard Historical Commission, Senator Lori Wilson and County Commissioner Chuck Nelson. The public is invited.
Joe Morgan, a previous mayor of Cocoa Beach, attended Barbara Eden’s 1996 visit to the Space Center where he presented her a street sign bearing the name “I Dream of Jeannie Lane”. Joe has tirelessly been active at getting a historic marker installed for her in the city of Cocoa Beach. Now his goal has been accomplished.
Barbara Eden’s the star of the show and “the Jeannie” first visited the area of Cocoa Beach and Cape Canaveral in June of 1969. Later in November of 1969 the whole cast showed up for a mock wedding of this event.
