Inn Tours are available Tuesdays and Thursday at 2:30 p.m. during the season of May through October.
Reservations are required; please call the Inn at Shelburne Farms phone 802-985-8442.
The tickets will be available for pick-up at the main gate next to the Welcome Center.
This examiner had an unfortunate experience the day she arrived to take the tour.
She stopped at the gate and said she was here for the Tea & Garden Tour. The gate attendant didn’t ask her name, but said “We have no ticket for you.”
I stated I had paid over the phone and was told to pick-up and meet the tour at the South Porch at the Inn.
The gentleman at the gate asked me to pull-over and see Carol in the Welcome Center.
This examiner insisted she had given her credit card on an earlier date and was told to pick up the ticket at the gate.
The person at the gate said “Well, everyone has not picked up their tickets yet…” and proceeded to read off the names of the ticket holders.
When he read this examiner’s name, she said “That’s me, that’s my name.”
This examiner would like to say this is the worst customer service I’ve received, but when she arrived at the South Porch, the tour guide was not quite convinced that was where this examiner belonged either.
On the plus side, the staff person in charge of the wagon drawn Property Tour, was very courteous and assisted me in locating the South Porch from the parking lot.
Also, when this examiner wanted get a closer look at the roses, the two masonry workers were hospitable and accommodating to let me carefully step on the dirt to get a better photo.
The $18.00 fee includes an approximately 75 minute guide-accompanied stroll through the majestic historic country estate.
As well as access to a self-serve hot or cold tea, sweet or savory pastries and tea sandwiches which are displayed in the Tea Room daily for Inn guests, is encompassed in the ticket cost.
Please see the slideshow of the charming gardens, the newly completed balustrade, continued renovation of the masonry, the lovely and stately rooms, the well-manicured lawns and the breathtaking views of Lake Champlain.
This examiner has received excellent customer service in other areas of Shelburne Farms which should be recognized.
Having visited the Farm Barn for 15 years and enjoyed the 4-H Pancake Breakfast during Maple Open House Weekend for at least 5 years, this examiner has received nothing but excellent service.
Don Webb and his English foxhounds welcomed this examiner while crossing the parking lot to the Vermont Fresh Network Forum Dinner.
Marshall Webb personally emailed me regarding specific directions to walk the farm trails from Quaker Smith Point Road to the shore of Lake Champlain.
Thank you to everyone who has and continues to provide excellent customer service at Shelburne Farms!
