Kids love watching movies, joining adventures and befriending larger than life characters. They also love to wiggle, clap, boogie and dance to the music. A new interactive movie encourages kids to do them all together right in the theater. The Oogieloves in the BIG Balloon Adventure is scheduled for nationwide release on Oogust 29.
The green, yellow and purple faces smiling down from a billboard over the Toys ‘R’ Us in Times Square await their moment of fame. While children may not have heard of Goobie, Zoozie and Toofie yet, a film industry newcomer hopes the characters will soon be as popular as Barbie or Elmo.
The movie comes with a high quality pedigree of actors and production staff. It stars Toni Braxton, Cloris Leachman, Christopher Lloyd, Chazz Palminteri, Cary Elwes, and Jaimie Pressly. Produced by Kenn Viselman (marketing entrepreneur behind the success of the Teletubbies and Thomas the Tank Engine), written by Scott Stabile (author of Li’l Pet Hospital books and program developer for National Geographic, History, Discovery and Travel Channels), and directed by four time Emmy Award winner Matthew Diamond, the movie is being distributed independent of Hollywood’s big studios.
The Oogieloves in the BIG Balloon Adventure is a unique, interactive movie experience for young children and their families. It is a family musical that allows children to be children, encouraging them to sing and dance with their friends on screen and to help “move” the adventure along. From the opening title sequence until the final song and dance number, children are invited to take part in this fun and fantastic Oogielove adventure.
The film is designed to promote interaction between the audience and the characters on film, and also between the children and their adults who are participating with them. Just as if one were reading a storybook to a child, adults will find themselves helping children interact with the adventure on screen, pointing out intriguing details and reading special words. They’ll dance and sing together while helping new friends become successful in their adventures.
The Oogieloves live in LovelyLoveville, simply the most beautiful and joy-filled place in the whole wide world. A place so lovely that, like a throwback to the 1950s, all of its inhabitants support and bring out the best in each other. From the quirky human beings and the goofy animals to the adventurous Oogieloves themselves, everyone in LovelyLoveville knows how to have a good time.
The film, a simple story of a loving friendship, follows the Oogieloves (Goobie, Zoozie and Toofie) as they set out to find five magical golden balloons in time for their good friend Schluufyʼs surprise birthday party. With the help of their best friends, J. Edgar, Windy Window and Ruffy, and the support of many extraordinary new friends whom they meet along the way, the Oogieloves travel throughout all of beautiful LovelyLoveville on their search.
They’ll need plenty of creative thinking, teamwork and enthusiasm to rescue these one-of-a-kind balloons in time for the big celebration. But when the Oogieloves work together with the audience, they can achieve anything.
From the Oogieloves home page, parents and kids can meet the characters, explore LovelyLoveville, learn songs, watch videos, and preview the movie. There is a printable Parent Guide to help families get the most out of the Oogielove experience. There is even a sweepstakes where kids can win savings bonds and other prizes.
The Oogieloves Power of Mom tour is making a stop in major cities before nationwide release (today in Detroit). They will be stopping in Salt Lake on Tues August 14th, Denver on Wed Aug 15th and Phoenix on Aug 16th. If you have young children and are interested in taking part in a unique roundtable and screening with producer Kenn Viselman and writer Scott Stabile please message them ASAP on this Facebook page.
The movie was made in Michigan and is giving back to Michigan kids.
The Oogieloves in the BIG Balloon Adventure producers are donating $150,000 to the Henry Ford Health System for Innovative Kids’ Health Programs at the movie premiere party on Wednesday, August 8th at Emagine Royal Oak in Detroit. The producers are hoping to keep Michigan’s kids physically active long after the singing and dancing in the interactive movie are done.
