Jose Canseco, an avid Twitter user, was hired as a paid columnist for Vice magazine. Gun Control and the Colorado shooting will be the first post for the former MLB player, once accused of using steroids.
Wednesday, NBC Sports did a story on the controversial former professional baseball player, whose new gig is to write about whatever pops into his noggin.
Canseco, hired by the flippant multi-platform media brand magazine, is expected to unleash his off-the-cuff toxic talk to readers who dare partake in his critical thinking.
“José Can Say So,” the column Canseco was hired to write, will be published every Monday for anxious readers of his random opinions.
Gun control and the Colorado shooting in Aurora at the “Batman” screening are included in his inaugural post. An excerpt reads:
“I truly believe, aggressively, that we have the right to bear arms. We should be able to carry guns to protect ourselves. Period,” Jose Canseco says.
“The funny thing is I don’t own any guns,” he continues, “but I would love to have a few—an Uzi and a street sweeper and a machine gun, maybe. I’d love to be able to carry a 9mm on me in a holster and just walk around. That’d be great. But you can’t in California, the state in which I live. And that’s bogus,” he adds about gun control.
Jose, on the surface appears to be using objective journalism, while arguably offering a benign and logical take on the right to bear arms in this country.
However, classic Canseco comes out in his assessment of John Holmes’ part in the Colorado shooting. Here, the gloves come off. He writes:
“If you misuse a weapon and kill innocent people, you should be executed. And if it were up to me, I would fry the Aurora shooter, big-time. I’d do it like old times; I’d make it a spectacle and try him in public. Hang him, electrocute him, whatever.
“Maybe make it a Pay-Per-View special and send the proceeds to the families of the victims and maybe offset some of the costs of keeping him on death row and operating whatever death machine you strap him to. If I were president, that’s exactly what I’d do.”
Remember, Jose Canseco was hired as a “paid” columnist. So expect him to go hard and unleash years of bottled-up emotions over haters who accused him of using steroids. As he says, “If you like that article,” he added, “imagine what I will write next week. No holds barred in your face bull—-.”
